BLOC (Black Leaders Organizing for Communities) works to ensure a high quality of life and access to opportunities for members of the Black community in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin. We are working for a future where Black people have the tools, training, and resources needed to effectively organize their communities and guarantee that their issues, concerns, and values are represented at all levels of government. The Center for Popular Democracy Action (CPD/A) serves as a national partner.

Position Description

Status: Full Time

Pay Range: $30,000 / year plus benefits

Reports To: Program Director

Based in: Milwaukee, WI

The Office Manager will organize and coordinate office administration and procedures, in order to ensure organizational effectiveness, efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities :

  • Point person for maintenance, mailing, shipping, supplies, equipment, bills and errands

  • Organize and schedule meetings and appointments

  • Maintain office policies as necessary

  • Organize office operations and procedures

  • Maintain an inventory of all office equipment

  • Maintain employee records

  • Assist in the processing of payroll

  • Manage relationships with vendors, service providers and landlord, ensuring that all items are invoiced and paid on time Provide general support to visitors

  • Establish procedures for record protection, retention, disposal and retrieval

  • Participate actively in the planning and execution of the organization’s events

  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven office management, administrative or assistant experience

  • Knowledge of office management responsibilities, systems and procedures

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritise work

  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Proven ability to work with a team of diverse people

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Knowledge of clerical practices and procedures

  • Knowledge of human resources management practices and procedures

  • Able to work independently with little or no supervision
