BLOC (Black Leaders Organizing for Communities) works to ensure a high quality of life and access to opportunities for members of the Black community in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin. The Center for Popular Democracy Action (CPD/A) serves as a national partner.
Position Description
Status: Full -Time Temporary (through November 6th)
Pay Rate: $50,000 / year plus benefits
Reports to: Program Director
Based in: Milwaukee, WI
The Field Director will work with the Program Director to ensure the proper training of Ambassadors, determine teams and turf, and evaluate Ambassador performance.
Responsibilities
Developing the training and orientation of Lead Ambassadors & Ambassadors
Ensuring that Lead Ambassadors are properly training, supporting and evaluating their team members
Using the Voter Activation Network (VAN) to cut and assign turf to teams
Setting, meeting and exceeding benchmarks for voter contact, volunteer recruitment, grassroots engagement and GOTV Handling any issues that may arise in the field including but not limited to:
-Conflicts between Ambassadors & between Ambassadors and residents.
-Emergency situations
-Technical issues
-Performing random field evaluations of Electoral & Lead Ambassadors
-Managing the field program budget and logistics in collaboration with senior staff
Desired Qualifications:
2+ cycles of campaign field experience participating in and running a field program
Extensive experience managing and training high performing staffers ● Experience designing, maintaining and improving a goal oriented accountability structure without compromising staff autonomy or innovation
Extensive experience with and ability to train on Voter Activation Network (VAN) ● Strong communication and organizational skills, showing attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; successful at motivating staff to meet recruitment and voter contact goals
Ability to write and submit timely reports
Knowledge of BLOC’s Ambassador Program
